I have to say, Kessen III has created a new gameplay in video game history. You can imagine this new gameplay, "A-RSLG"(action+role playing+simulation)
, as the combination of Warriors serie (Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors) , Dynasty Tactics series, and Kessen series.

Kessen III is very different from other Kessen series we have ever played. In Kessen III, you control a group of soldiers in Warriors series style (use analog stick to move, press square button to attack......etc) instead of command selection. But it's different from Warriors series, too. It's hard to play your individual heroism here like what you've done in Warriors series. You have to make all of your groups concordant to complete their strategy goal and finally destroy the enemies.

Now I'll try my best to introduce this awesome game.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Key Function?Kessen III is a little fimiliar with Warriors series.

1-1. Direction pad and left analog stick?Move the choosen group.

1-2. Triangle button?Special attack. You can press it after normal attack to do chain attack like Warriors series, or just hold it to gather power and release it to do special attack of group.

1-3. Square button?Normal attack. You can do normal chain attack by pressing it repeatly.

1-4. Round button?Open skill menu. Like wizadry, tactics......etc.

1-5. Cross button? To retreat from close battle.

1-6. L1?Reform the choosen group and defend. A group in well organized formation will be fertilized.

1-7. L2?Change the choosen group.

1-8. R1?Call for support attack of aides.

1-9. R2?Command aides to gather.

1-10. START?Open battlefield map and command menu.

1-11. SELECT?Open system menu.

1-12. Right analog stick?Zoom in, zoom out, and rotate camera.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Character Ability? There are about 30 playable characters in Kessen III.

2-1. Individual Ability

2-1-1. Strength?More strength can do more damage in individual battle.
2-2-2. Intellect?High intellect can learn skills quickly.
2-2-3. Vitality?Character's endurance in individual battle.

2-2. Group Ability? No need to describe, you all know their meaning.

2-2-1. Attack
2-2-2. Defend
2-2-3. Speed

------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Military Class and Special Attack

3-1. Cavalry?Charge in triangle formation.
3-2. Katana Footmen?Round slash.
3-3. Firearm?Fire.
3-4. Mounted Bowmen?Shoot.
3-5. Spearmen?Assault with spear.
3-6. Ninja?Shadow assassinate.
3-7. Mounted firearm?Fire.
3-8. Bowmen?Shoot.
3-9. Military Engineers?Throw bombs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Skill Type? Each skills will cost differnt Skill Point, and it can recover automatically with time goes by.

4-1. Assist
4-2. Tactics
4-3. Direct Damage
4-4. Ninja craft

------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Reinforce System.

5-1. Reinforcement attack? When you're fighting enemy in close battle, you can call aides for reinforcement attack by pressing R1, like firearm, bow shooting, and bombs throwing.

5-2. Friendship attack? If you are in one of below situation, you can call aides for friendship attack.

5-2-1. Stop enemy's special attack.
5-2-2. Successfully special attack in very close distance.

In friendship attack, like Dynasty Tactics, you can do multi-chain attack with aides.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. Misc

6-1. You'll make Keiji Maeda and Inahime playable if you have save datas of Samurai warriors and SW?Xtreme.

6-2. Complete a battle in the highest grades???will have you gain bonus equipments or military class.

Yes, I have bought and played it for about 3 days in Taiwan, and it makes me have a brandnew gameplay feeling on video game. Although there are too many information about Kessen III before it's released(in US), I suggest you to play it by yourself. Seeing is believing.

Now I have to go back to fight the union of Asai and Asakura in Anegawa......I'm seriously drawed by this amazing game.

Great info, thanks. I can't wait for it.

....but, why did you put 'spoiler' in the title? There are no spoilers here.

Thanks, and I have removed the "spoiler" from title. Now I will continue to introduce the "Individual Battle" system of Kessen III.

Since I haven't played any US version Kessen series, I don't know how the word "單騎驅"(Tankigake) is formally translated in English. "Tankigake" means you force your general to take part in the close battle. It's a tactics skill in Kessen II, too. But in Kessen III, "Tankigake" is a "common" action and not only a "skill".

Not like Kessen II, every playable character in Kessen III can use "Tankigake" in group-to-group close battle. After using "Tankigake", a new battle screen will be opened, and you can control your "general" himself(no longer whole "group")to fight against opposite general and soldiers, just like what you have played in Warriors series.

Controlling a general in individual battle is different from commanding a group in close battle, it's more like Warriors style. In individual battle, time and amount of killing will be accounted as points, you have to reach every level of points to earn more experience and gather more items.

Although Kessen II allows you to control your general to fight, "Tankigake" in Kessen III adds more fast action facts and Warriors control style, even to do "Muson move"!"Tankigake" will be an additional fun in Kessen III.

Great information! I'm really looking forward to this game. I just hope Naomasa Yi is on there or it will be a severe disappointment.

Honda's in there for sure, but Yi may not have been old enough to fit into the Nobunaga timeframe. He was 39 years old at Sekigahara.

How about Maeda Keiji? Is he good in the game? He was my favorite character from SW besides Nobunaga. I'm glad he made it in. He had a pretty interesting look in K1 too, but he was only in a few battles.

A final question, is Uesugi Kenshin the 'Lu Bu' of the game?

To Zhang Liao17:

Since Tokugawa family is the "minor" faction in Kessen III, only Daimyo Tokugawa Ieyasu and famous Honda Tadakatsu show up. Besides, Hatori Hanzou will join Nobunaga's side.

To crashman:

1. Maeda Keiji is as powerful as he is in SW. He is very good at leading cavalry.

2. I'm not yet encounter Uesugi Kenshin(now I'm in chapter 6 and going to fight against Takeda Shingen in Mikawa), so I don't know if he is as Lu Bu in Kessen III.

Here is the detailed introduce about miitary classes:

ATK=Attack
DFD=Defend
SPD=Speed

Mighty > Very Good > Good > Normal > Bad > Awful

All of their rank on abilities are according to my playing experience......so they may not be correct.

1. Cavalry
ATK:Very Good
DFD:bad
SPD:Mighty

2. Katana Footmen
ATK:Good
DFD:Good
SPD:Normal

3. Firearm
ATK:Normal
DFD:Normal
SPD:Bad

4. Mounted Bowmen
ATK:Normal
DFD:Normal
SPD:Very Good

5. Spearmen
ATK:Bad
DFD:Mighty
SPD:Bad

6. Ninja
ATK:Mighty
DFD:Normal
SPD:Very Good

7. Mounted Firearm
ATK:Good
DFD:Normal
SPD:Very Good

8. Bowmen
ATK:Bad
DFD:Bad
SPD:Normal

9. Military Engineers
ATK:Awful
DFD:Bad
SPD:Bad

The class of the highest rank on each ability:

ATK:Ninja. Very powerful class. The only disadvantage is that the amounts of men in each ninja group are too less, so they can't endure too long under heavy attack.

DFD:Spearmen. The heavy tank and is good at attacking cavalry. It can be used in protecting low DFD classe or defend in front and call for reinforcement attack from behind.

SPD:Cavalry. The main class on battlefield. Their charge is easy to crush and break enemies' battle line, but they will die very soon in close battle because of their low DFD.
