Wouldn't that mean that each general who fails at their task gets beheaded, and each general who succeeds with flying colours also gets beheaded? Ouch man, that would be a scary leader to be under.

Lol, more of his brutality and spirit. Although it is only a popular rumour.
I've a brave warrior in my army. Shen Ai is his name, and he can slay this Hua Xiong.

Wei has no more famous commanders, Shen Ai takes lead of the vanguard!

Even a commoner on the street knows what Shen Ai is thinking!

But with him being so spirited, and showing no signs of disloyalty to his commander, he would be a useful commander to keep around, and a perfect body guard.

He would have been excellent, but by then I guess he must have been very loyal to Old Wei so the New Wei leaders, must have had him killed.

They hadn't usurped the country yet. I don't think Niu Jin would have cared that much. Cao Cao, Cao Ren and the others had passed away a long time ago.

Meh, maybe, but Wen Qin was an officer when Wei was corrupt and yet he rebelled against the Sima's. Same with Guanqui Jian and Zhuge Dan and Zhong Hui.

Zhong Hui was tricked into doing so by Jiang Wei, and his hatred of Deng Ai. He doesn't count.

I have never seen any evidence, in the ZZTJ''s, SGZ's or from Dr Rafe about this victory over Ma Dai, let alone the execution. The latter of which makes little sense as far I can tell.

I take it you're talking about Niu Jin.
[quote"wikipedia"]Years later, he participated in the counter-attack against the invading Shu Han forces in 231 and scored a victory over Zhuge Liang's unit, and pursuited him to Mount Qi. In 234, he soundly defeated the Shu Han general Ma Dai on the battlefield, and chopped off thousands of enemies' heads. In 238, he followed Sima Yi in his campaign against Gongsun Yuan, and was promoted to General of the Rear.
However, his accomplishments during his later years had only earned him the apprehension from the Simas, thus he was ordered to commit suicide by drinking poison.[/quote]
Not the most reliable source, but this is probably where he got it.
