The Most Loyal

Unread postby Zhang Liao17 » Tue Jun 18, 2002 6:53 pm

Who was the most loyal officer of the RTK era?

My main choices are Zhang Liao, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei and Shen Pei.

Zhang Liao for serving Wei for so long and helping shape the Wei dynasty and defend it. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei for being loyal to their brother above all else and Shen Pei for never even considering joining Cao Cao but dying facing his lord in the north.

Who are your top picks?

People like Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Zhou Yu, Ma Su, Shen Pei, and Zhang Liao. Especially officers that refused to join an enemy (like Cao Cao) because of loyalty to their lord.

There is a pretty impressive group of loyalists.

Zhuge Liang, Zhuge Jin, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Tian Feng, Ju Shou, and Shen Pei all pop into my mind.

Hmmmm, I'll have to say Lu Bu.
He's the most loyal guy in the entire three kingdoms era.
No one is more loyal than Lu Bu.

I don't think you could seriously call Guan Yu loyal (well maybe to Wei)...He screw up everything his brother had build up for...

As for me Zhang Ren and Wei Yan (NO...This is not sarcasm)

Guan Yu could be said to be arrogant and careless (when things go wrong in Jing Zhou) but I don't think it's fair to say that he was disloyal because of that.

Zhang Ren was a good choice. He could have gotten higher status and riches if he joined Liu Bei but chose to join Hades instead.

I consider anybody who rather commit suicide than surrender loyal.
