Romance of the Three Kingdoms 14 Announced

From the descriptions, it seems like it's going back to ruler-focused, and 11-style gameplay with the map being one big battlefield. Land is separate from cities, so you can occupy land while ignoring cities/fortresses, gaining income and potentially cutting supplies off from your opponents...

Sounds most similar to the recent Nobunaga's Ambition games with the non-city territories, more officer uniqueness, and ruler ideology playing a role. I really liked Sphere of Influence and Taishi has some good ideas so I'll keep an eye on this.

i haven't bought one of these since sphere of influence, hopefully it'll be good and in english.

Sphere of Influence is one of my favourite games of all time. It's an immense improvement on ROTK XI. The main thing that's great about Sphere of Influence though is the AI. I play with everything on normal except AI Intelligence and AI Aggression, which are on MAX. I love how they'll empty out like 2/3rds of their empire to attack you on like 5 fronts at the same time, and co-ordinate with allies who'll be doing the same to you at the same time. Their attacks always have real power behind them, they never just fritter away units, and they'll retreat when they realise it's a bad idea to keep going rather than just have everyone fight to the last man. Even when things are going easy, it's never boring, you have to conquer efficiently because the big powers around the map will conquer and grow quickly and efficiently. You're in a race from the start. And if you attack them, they'll move in reinforcements from all over their empire and call in allies to help to kick you out.

Bring this to an ROTK 14, and it will be glorious and wonderful.

Enabling even low stat officers to have some use is nice, would allow some of the weaker factions to be more viable without dumping a bunch of created officers into their faction. Though that might make the stronger factions even stronger as their low stat officers will also be more useful :lol:

I look forward to learning more details about the game. I got quite bored of 13 and 11. Would be nice of Koei translated their older titles on Steam, being able to pick up those games on PC in English would be fantastic.

The RoTK series hasn't interested me since 11, so the return to a ruler-based type of game is really hype-inducing!

Eh, I like the RPG style RoTK games, but I may give this a shot. If it gets an English translation, that is.
