How to check the version of the game :
1. Go to C:\Program Files\Koei\San11
2. Right click on San11.exe
3. Click properties > version tab > File Version

Hello Farid!

I think I remember you from Koei Forums a long time ago... Since I have seen you and Lezard Valeth tinker with programs and the ROTK game, and as you both seem a bit more knowledgeable than me about ROM hacking / modding, I'd like to ask you both a question about these updates:

Do you think it would be possible to find what these updates changed in the japanese ROTKXI.exe (and maybe other files) and port them to our RTKXI.exe (english version) file ? In other words, do you think it's possible to create a 1.3.3.0 version for the english version of ROTK XI ?

i.e.:
Step 1) Compare non-patched japanese and english RTKXI.exe, find their similarities with corresponding adresses.
Step 2) Compare japanese patched and non-patched RTKXI.exe, find all modified bytes and make a list of all the changes
Step 3) Port the japanese patch to an english equivalent with all this information.

Although I know this project would take a long time, I'm really curious about its feasibility. What pitfalls could be encountered ? Thank you.

There are some evidence that shows RTKXI V1.0 is the same as Sangokushi 11 V1.3.3.0 (or in the worst case v1.3.0.0)

First evidence (accurate) :
There are two easy to test updates in Sangokushi 11 v1.3.0.0 :
- It adds the ability to hide the troops information during press down "Ctrl" key.
- Change to display the effect range of military facilities.
As I tested, RTKXI V1.0 has both of them.

Second evidence (not accurate) :
Release date for Sangokushi 11 V1.3.3.0 is 2007/03/14
While release date for RTKXI V1.0 is 2008/09/09
Considering the amount of time that Koei had (about 1.5 year), and the amount of the remaining update size from v1.3.0.0 to v1.3.3.0 (about 5MB), I can conclude that RTKXI V1.0 is probably equal to Sangokushi 11 V1.3.3.0
Then again to prove this idea someone should test one of the features of Sangokushi 11 V1.3.3.0 in RTKXI V1.0

Suggestion :
The only problem with RTKXI V1.0 is the annoying random crashes, because of Deng clan.
I suggest you to compare the files of Sangokushi 11 V1.3.3.0 with RTKXI V1.0, maybe you can find out how to fix it.

By the way thanks to your tutorial I found a temporary solution : Omitting the Deng officers completely from the game works fine for now.

Thank you for this very quick answer. According to your evidences, I guess there isn't much to change if we already play the updated version of the game then. I'll try to take a look at the Deng Ai crash you linked.
