next scenario, will play Yuan Shao again.

But this time round will be Lu Bu campaign

Yuan Shao force is difficult to start with, because he has weak officers (military generals)

What year does Imperial Rescue scenario start? Is there a thread here that explains it somewhat?

196. Emperor Xian has fled from Li Jue to Luoyang, which is controlled by Yang Feng. Cao Cao's sitting at his doorstep in Hulao Gate.

Oh I see, thank you. So this is actually an historic event with the White Wave bandits?

Does anyone have a guide or some tips?
I tried playing Cao Cao during the Dong Zhuo coalition but I couldn't beat them. I didn't have a bought slots to builds a better force to overpower them and win.
What is a good force and starting scenario?

Any major force in 194

190 is terrible for a new player because Dong Zhuo is quite the blobber. Picking Cao Cao in 190...yikes...it's a doable situation but for a new player? Haha. The stuff you have to do to gain an edge on Dong Zhuo as Cao Cao in 190 is pretty daunting.

But yeah in 194 everything is pretty balanced and there are empty cities to take over or evacuate to. Plus most of the forces are small so it will be easier to pick up.

Rise of Heroes can also be good but you have to be careful because there are a ton of undiscovered officers in Cao Cao/Liu Bei/Sun Ce's cities. If you don't expand you will go broke recruiting them all.

Don't play Yan Baihu or Kong Zhou. ;)

Went with Liu Bei in the warlords scenario, but I think it's time to stop because yuan shu is on the March and it's so long since I last played that I'm not confident I can win, specially since I don't know how to call my allies to defend instead of attack

Whaaaaaaa Liu Bei shouldn't be too hard. Build a band camp at the best possible choke point and deploy Guan Yu and Zhang Fei with spears. Their Rush tactic will stun enemy units, allowing other units to pummel them with normal attacks. You should be able to wipe the floor with Yuan Shu unless he has gotten *too* strong.

Also I think a good approach for Liu Bei in 194 is to break off the alliance with Tao Qian and attack him. Most of the officers love you and Xiapi is much more defensible.
