They only exist in Save files, since their officer numbers are outside the scenario scope. I don't think they can be made playable either.

I don't know, I've never looked for them and they don't appear in the officer list of San11Editor. I just know that they're there and used by several officers in the father byte. There's also no easy way to search for them, but I do know that there is a bunch of codes that resemble officer codes after the last Created Officer code, just with many ff bytes. That's where you have to look for, but finding the exact number 2000 is very hard.

I don't know it either because I haven't reached the limit in my English copy... I can only tell you it's officer number 999.

I'm still playing Ma Teng in Clash in Guan Du scenario

Until now, though i have Guan Yu & Zhang Fei, i still could not employ Liu Bei

Liu Bei does not dislike Ma Teng.

Playing Ma Teng in the beginning is very difficult to play, as his officers has very low POL, building of government facilities are much slower

Then, have to take huge risk to attack

in overall i still prefer playing the standard version of the game, it is harder to play, because

- ambush unit could not confuse enemy unit

- bow unit using bow could not capture enemy officer

- catapult & tower could not capture officer

- transport movement is slower

There are some examples that makes the game harder to play

Although it's not perfect (or finalized, for that matter), I'm getting a kick out of Zetta's randomizer program. I took my 194 X scenario and ran it through the program. Aside from He Mao - a Yuan Shao officer who replaced some dead ruler - both being in the game, AND doing surprisingly well to boot, it's oddly a pretty balanced scenario.

Case in point, my first run through, I played as Sun Ce, based out of Guiyang. Before I started to overtake the others in power, at one point the map was as thus:

Northwest - Gongsun Zan
Northeast - Yuan Shao with a sprinkle of Ma Chao
Xu - Cao Cao
Yang - Lu Bu
Jing - Sun Ce
Yi - He Mao > Sun Jian (I sabotaged He Mao lol)
Central - Zhang Xiu, who was extremely resilient

The most interesting part was the war between Cao Cao and Lu Bu. I allied with both after consolidating Jing because I wanted to see them duke it out. And even as I started swallowing up Gongsun Zan up in Liang, these two were still going at it. Lu Bu will hammer into Xiaopei, only for Cao Cao to fight tooth and nail and seize it back. So they've been locked in this epic 10-year war that has pretty much consumed all of their attention.

Also of interest, despite starting in like Changan, Liu Bei doesn't do all that well, but he is very resilient. Him and Zanny were bitterly contesting Wan for years.
