It was a bit of a random occurence. There's a Japanese game wiki (Atwiki) I have a page bookmarked for Nobunaga's Ambition information; I checked to see if they had ROTK XI at one point, browsed a little, and stumbled upon the Pedagogy information. I was surprised.

Nice find. Do you know if other skills like Escort or Escape Route have a similar effect?

Does anybody else have a problem with Xiahou Dun's high stats? In particular his war? I don't recall anything suggesting he was that skilled, quite the opposite in fact. Unless I'm forgetting about some duel, which I most likely am

Yes and no, he was better as a big picture commander type rather than being in the field doing battle, but even then he wasn't considered remarkable in this role, just competent enough. But that said, in terms of gameplay I think he is supposed to give Cao Cao a solid early-scenario general to lean on.

His high WAR is probably mainly attributable to him running Cao Xing through after getting shot in the eye, it's an impressive feat but contemporaries with similar feats (think Dong Xi) tend to be mid/high 80s.

I don't know details but I'm pretty sure this and the Anding - Jinyang alternate route are the two worst in the game in terms of marching time.

Lol, so I did it, Calvary unit sent at 9/1 reached at 5/21 so like a little over 8 months, I actually ran out of food the first time. Spear unit 9/11 to 8/11 so 11 months and sword unit exactly at 9/1 so a year.

I actually have my Xiahou Dun at like 90+ war, I think like 93 or something, only because, I like what Dynasty Warriors and the show from 2010 did about him dueling with Guan Yu after the 5 passes. I justify the edit, because technically he never lost a "duel," I'm pretty sure all his defeats were command related so his WAR skills could have been amazing haha.

 Usually I like harassing the AI from far away using routes that aren't used ever, but sometimes they are just too far away to make it worthwhile and I leave them alone.

I had Wang Yi's war skill around 90 at one point because she was my favorite character from Dynasty Warriors at the time and how quickly she could slaughter everyone on the map the way I played as her, so I probably shouldn't get into this

First post. Take it easy on me. Though I did read all of the rules and has been doing a lot of google search. I just can't quite finish reading all these 700+ pages of discussion. Though I get the sense that discussion is still on going and appreciated.

First thing first, just some background in case it is relevant. I use the Chinese version of ROTK 11 PK version. Running in a VMware Workstation on Windows 7 without SP1. I could not for the life of it get this to run on Windows 10. So... what you gonna do?

Anyways, started playing this game since... Well, around 2007 when it first game out. Now I dug it up again cause I suddenly felt the urge. Took me forever to figure out how to get it working. And now just finished with the scenarios and my first super difficulty campaign with a 187 start as Liu Bei. Really hard at the beginning, took a few restarts, but once I got around 10 officer and managed to expend, it was all easy. Finished the game at 216~.

Now, my real question. I wanted to start another campaign, but I been searching up and down on this game and found this new list of official characters here: https://www4.atwiki.jp/sangokushi11/pages/76.html which was found in this same discussion thread a bit earlier.

Which actually lead me to this site. I am wondering, does anyone here know how to edit MakeData.s11 to add these character in?

I know there is some type of character editor but all the Chinese sites I looked seems to have dead links all over the place. This is one of the few place where conversation is still ongoing, so figure I will ask! Sorry if this is not exactly on topic?

If I'm not mistaken, there were quite a few RTK11 game editors back in the day, but to my knowledge (Never messed with them, even though I would love to), they didn't allow people to add more custom officers to the game than those allowed already in the game.

Because otherwise, we could grab on Dong Zhou and Tarrots list on SimRTK, and add hundreds more officers to the game.

It would make it considerably more populated and better (Much better than unhistorically having cities with 1/2 officers in it.

But, if I'm not mistaken, it is not to be.

Hello and welcome, don't worry, most people on here are pretty helpful and friendly overall, and its always nice to see new people on here that still play this game too, so if you have any more questions or whatever, feel free to ask :)

About what you did ask though, It looks like you are trying to add the missing characters like Zhang Shiping, Li Shi and others? They aren't in your version of the game at all? Even unlockable? I thought they were in the puk version, but even if they aren't, all their slots are still in the game, they just aren't used, but you can make them in the character creation like you would a custom character, then move them into their normal slots they would be in, and still have room for your custom characters, if you want to know how to do this, just ask, It's really easy to edit the MakeData and scenario files by hex editing. Just get a hex editor if you don't have one, I use HxD. Then all you have to do is copy their data and change a couple of things like their starting city, status, and birthplace and they will function normally in the scenario files. If you just want to make them in the MakeData, its the same as making a custom character, and you can use the picture editor that's on here to add their portraits into the game yourself, I think I have most of them if you need those too. You could also just give me one of your files and I can edit it for you if you want.

I'm not sure if its different in other versions of the game since I only play the English game now, but there's like 48 slots that aren't even used and can be, plus 100 npc slots that don't really function normally, and 100 extra slots in the save file for bandits and tribes that you can put characters into, so if you know how to work around the limitations (like the npc slots being "ghosts" for most things) you could actually have 1100 characters in the game counting your 150 created ones, and you also can just overwrite the more worthless officers and put anyone else there instead.
I love making created characters and making some characters from Samurai Warriors/Nobunaga's Ambition, so pretty much filled out all those slots, just left most of the npcs alone except to add parents or whatever. I like doing that, since as you said, it makes things, especially later or really early scenarios, a bit more populated, but I know most people have no interest in such things, or just find them to tedious to actually edit.
