Patience, young one. Allow the people to read your question and formulate an answer on their own time.

If you mean the time portal story, I don't know. I don't know anything about it. I have a feeling it was some kind of fanfic posted online somewhere.

But if you mean Water Margin, then yes, it is translated into English.

Ask Exar Kun if he still knows where the link is to that time portal story. I don't know my way around 3k.net anymore.

Journey to the West ROCKS.

The last time I read the book was 10 years ago and I'm sorry to have forgotten what a rad book it is.

Can someone supply the English translation of the names of the characters? I'd start a discussion but I don't know what the characters are known as in English.

Sun Wukong= Goku (made popular by Dragonball), Monkey king, Great Sage Equalling heavan
Zhu Bajie= Pig
Sha Wujing= Friar Sand
Tang Sheng= Xuanzang, Sanzang

Pretty simplistic when translated English. I'm using the translation used from W.J.F Jenner's translation of Journey to the West, the foreign languages press edition

6 year dead thread, come back!

i've been watching the mid-90's CCTV "water margin" serial, and it is awesome. i want to read it, but need to pick an english translation. any recommendation?

same question for journey to the west and hong lou meng, which i'm also learning from TV, but WM really is more my style (i'll get to the others eventually).

relatedly, has anyone ever seen dual english/chinese text versions of any of the classic chinese novels? it would have to be multi-volume whatever book it was, but you'd think some must have been published.. i read Lu Xun's "true story of Ah Q" a while back, first in english, then in chinese, and it was productive - i know the classic novels aren't as colloquial and modern in their writing, but still, i'd like to give a few chapters a try, and on paper (i get so sick of staring at this screen).
