Added a new PDF to my collection and it's something I've wanted for a very long time! The Kung-sun Warlords of Liao-tung by K. H. J. Gardiner. It may kill my eyes being in Wade-Giles, but I am going to read and re-read this bad boy over and over until I digest every bit of information on this insane family of would-be Emperors!

I have Fire but I’ve read little of it. We should start a book club so I stop procrastinating.

OK, this. I've been bogged down with essays but they are all due in on Tuesday. Would you like to give it a go? Like read a chapter a week and then share our thoughts in a thread? Anyone else is off course welcome to join in!

Look at these mega nerds forming a book club! ...Where do I sign up? I've been meaning to actually read the whole thing one day, and this would give me that incentive.

I thought you might say that! Pending Jia's agreement shall we aim to read Chapter 1 by a week Monday (as in 25th)? I'll start a thread then and share my thoughts and then anyone else who wants to contribute can do so as well!

Book club!

I think a chapter per week will work great. And if we find that we’re moving too slowly, we can adjust the pace. Feel free to start the book club thread.

I've just added a wish list section to my library. This list could have gone on indefinitely but I stuck to just a top 10. This isn't to help you with your Christmas shopping. Although I might point my family in it's direction . Instead it's because while I own some great books, lots of the best ones are still out there! Therefore I wonder if what I want is almost a more helpful guide then what I have, as my shopping has been somewhat haphazard over the years and some of the best books are just out of my price range, but they might not be for others.

Let me know what you think of my list and whether there are any books your surprised aren't on there or aren't higher! 10th place was a tough choice between Crump's book and Campany's. Campany will certainly be added next time there is space on the list!

That’s looking like a delicious list.

Great to see Crump represented. Just to clarify (I’ve probably already told you this but) his Warring States book doesn’t have much in the way of supernatural anecdotes, but rather anecdotes of successes and failures in war and society. It’s a big ol’ book of lessons.

Clarifying just in case you were looking moreso for supernatural stuff by Crump or Campany. Warring States is a great book too.

Also I reckon Early Medieval China: A Sourcebook is an indicator of what the coming Cambridge book will be like, in terms of a dream team combining their powers for glory. The Cambridge book is going to be even more glorious. I can barely imagine it.

If I'm honest, I was just looking for anecdotes that my characters can reference in my novel, supernatural or not.

Thanks! It is also looking like an expensive list...

That’s fine! It will offer that. And since it all takes place in the Warring States era, the whole book will be available in that regard.
