I'm reading 'Gardens of the Moon' by Steven Erikson. I'm still feeling like I only understand 10% of what's going on but I'm taking comfort in the fact that I think that's the authors intention. I'm loving it though, would recommend reading it to any fantasy fan!
Have a question about a book or academic article before you buy it? Maybe I have it!
Check out my library here for a list of Chinese history resources I have on hand and my tumblr to see if I have reviewed it!

The Godfather by Mario Puzo.
Let us begin with Zeus, whom we mortals never leave unspoken.
For every street, every market-place is full of Zeus.
Even the sea and the harbour are full of this deity.
Everywhere everyone is indebted to Zeus.
For we are indeed his offspring.

I recently read George H. Nash’s The Conservative Intellectual Movement in America Since 1945. It might be a bit dated today, but it still is a masterful bit of work. If you want to understand the american political right until the Reagan years, its the reference.
If they can abolish fanaticism, let us pray for the advent of the sceptics.

Currently reading The Justification of the Good: An Essay on Moral Philosophy by Vladimir Solovyov. Looks pretty promising so far - though it's clear he's influenced by Kant and the entire project of German idealism, I suspect he just dealt a surprisingly strong body-blow to the voluntarism Kant inherited indirectly from Duns Scotus.

The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa. I'm not reading it in one go but rather a few paragraphs at a time. Beautiful prose about existence and everyday life.

After planning to do so for years, I finally read the first Discworld book, The Colour Of Magic.
Unless I specifically say otherwise, assume I am talking about historical Three Kingdoms, and not the novel.

In memory of my beloved cats, Anastasia (9/30/06-9/18/17, illness) and Josephine (1/19/06-9/23/17, cancer).

Sex and the Citadel
By Shereen El Feki

And Seeing like a feminist
By Nivedita Menon

Excellent book both of them and the latter one is something I would recommend everyone else too...
