Hi Scholars,

Cao Cao is one of my favourite characters, so this book is sooo... tempting.... It's also, sooo... expensive!!! I would appreciate those of you that have read the book could give a review (or a mini-review), so I can assess whether it's worthwhile to fork out such a huge amount of dough for a single book...

This is a really expensive book... Brill's books are at such crazy prices, don't know how many anyone can afford them except for historians.

I'm not sure even how to buy it since I don't have a actual credit card that high and all I can use is pre-paid.. I'm lucky if i can get the Chinese-English 5 book set peaked at 120 dollars cheapest.

Ah, one of those rare books I want in BOOK and e-book form... mainly because its so bloody heavy after a while.

Well, and reference books tend to be good that way in general; Ctrl-F and all

What is really amazing is that it isn't the exchange rate, either - the AUD is only marginally more valuable than the USD. It's just a really expensive book - at 556 pages, that's $2.26 per page - ouch!

Adrian

Not to be rude, but it's more like $0.45 per page  However, I agree it is [still] one very expensive book.

And of course you're right. Stupid mistake on my part.

Yeah, me too. I bought mine at the actual store at Barnes and Noble for $245, but I am glad they waived the shipping fee.

Medievalists.net has an interview with Rafe de Crespigny about the title.

That said, wow, $248? I sure would love to read it, though.
